Tribal Fusion Belly Dance is a modern Western form of belly dance which was created by fusing American Tribal Style belly dance and American Cabaret belly dance. Artists frequently incorporate elements from , Hip Hop, ‘Egyptian’ or ‘Cabaret’ belly dance, as well as movement principles from traditional forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Odissi, and other folkloric and classical dance styles.
Born and raised in Carletonville. Married and moved to Kempton Park in November 1977 .I am a mother of 3 boys.
I am a Reiki Master, crystal healer and do chakra clearing.
I began with ballet and tap about the age of 5, I gave up when I turned 13 as I concentrated more on sport.
I missed my dancing, so that when I matriculated and moved to Johannesburg, I took up Latin and ball room dancing.
I saw a Belly dance performing and I was hooked. Battled to find an instructor as they were all in the Northern part of Johannesburg. Found an instructor that was willing to come to Edenvale on a Saturday morning and fell in love with the dance.
I was a bit of an introvert and shy, well belly dance soon changed that. It helped with my self-esteem, confidence and the ability to be who I wanted to be. It became my passion!
This is where I met my, my sister in a previous life, and best friend Wilma….
In 2005 we decided to take the big step and open up Almeya Belly dance Studio. 16 years later we are still in business.
Belly dance is my passion, I love the music, the moves, makes me feel so good after a dance session and I love all my students as they have all taught me something in this life’s journey.
AKA, Wee Diva!!
Born and raised in Glasgow Scotland. Married and emigrated to SA in July 1982 due the recession in the UK.
I began with ballet and tap about the age of 5, like all little girls, I wanted to be a ballerina! After giving up for a number of years I returned to the discipline, which now included modern, at the age of 10.
Dancing was in my blood, so much so that I continued dancing up to the 6th month of pregnancy with my eldest son. I gave up dancing to become a mother of two children.
Fast forward to 2002, now with 3 children, living in SA and a marriage that had fallen apart, I needed an outlet, something for me, myself and I.
I then saw an advert for belly dancing….something I had never thought of. Off I went to my first class and immediately fell in love. I was a bit of an introvert and shy, well belly dance soon changed that. It helped with my self-esteem, confidence and the ability to be who I wanted to be. It became my passion!
At those classes I met my best friend, my sister in a previous life, Dawn…. we just hit it off.
In 2005 we decided to take the big step and open up Almeya Belly dance Studio. 16 years later we are still in business.
Belly dance has passion, amazing music and most of all beautiful, colourful and shiny costumes to make every dancer the goddess that she is!
And long may it continue!

I also have a TEFL certificate.
I work for myself running several small businesses namely:
When I went to my first belly dance class, all the way back in 2008, I never thought it would become one of the biggest passions in my life.
I had found something that I was good at, and that I loved to do.
Belly dance has changed my life, and myself, for the better. I am a severe introvert, except when I am on the belly dance floor; whether it’s in the studio, on the stage, or simply in my kitchen.
Belly dance has made me more confident about my abilities, the way I look, and my divine femininity. I feel more connected to my inner goddess when I’m dancing than at any other time. I know that I can never stop dancing… It’s in my blood now.
I am a part of the Almeya team, as the newest instructor, as of 2020.
I am married to a truly kind, long-suffering man who understands my passion and supports my belly dancing 100 percent.
